Day #90: Hockey, Juice Weasel and Pot luck
Bloody Hell! Day 90. I can hardly believe what I’m typing. Man this has been a long journey, and even though people who’ve juice feasted for 92 days have said that it actually went by pretty quickly, I didn’t believe them - well I wouldn’t would I?
I remember watching a couple of videos on youtube of people breaking their feasts with the bowl of prunes, when I was back on Day #1 or Day 2 and not even being able to imagine what it must be like to be “there” in the whole process, but now that day is almost here! I can’t really believe it.
OK let’s bring things back down to earth, and I’ll tell you about my day - which was pretty full.
My sugar this morning was 4.0,
After getting the juice ready for the day, and flasking it up My wife and I headed to Cranbrook the get a few things - Cranbrook’s about an hour west of Fernie, and is usually milder as it’s not so embedded in the mountains.
When we got back home we had to get ready for our first Ice Hockey game, in celebration of a friend’s birthday. He’d booked the ice at the Fernie Memorial Arena so a bunch of us could all play ice hockey.
Another friend of mine was kind enough to loan me some pads and helmet, so I kind of looked the part, but in reality I can’t skate that well and I’m certainly no hockey player either - good ingredients for a game of ice hockey n’est ce pas
As it turned out, we had a great time, way above my expectations, really enjoyed it. I just wish I was even slightly proficient at it. As it was I fell a couple of times, and both times managed to avoid the padding that I had on.
The first time I fell I landed on my side, on my ribs, and the second time I fell I landed on my front but my arm was underneath me, guess where? Yep that same spot that I fell on the first time - my ribs. As a result I’ve got bruised ribs on the left side which aches a bit when I breath in. Hey ho.
When we got back from hockey I checked my emails and another friend had sent me this, which is well worth a look - and kind of relevant ![]()
So, a pot luck was arranged to keep the birthday celebrations going, at my friend’s house. Cheryl made a raw salad and some raw nut dessert to take, and we got some wine too. A pot luck dinner, if you don’t know, is where everyone that’s coming brings a dish of some kind that they’ve prepared and then everyone shares out all the food.
When we got there the smells were fantastic, which was at once both nice, and annoying. I was wondering how I was going to cope with it, but I managed OK. It was a lovely evening.
So now I’m back and ready to retire, It’s been a long and good day.
Type to you tomorrow…
‘night.
