Day #88: Tim Hortons and the Pub

Well, I failed again to deliver a video, but I did try. As I write this, the application I was using to record and edit the movie just crashed, so as they say in Sweden: “Sod that for a game of soldiers.” It’s almost midnight and I’m ready for bed so I’ll do one tomorrow, I promise.

My sugars this morning were 4.1

It ws a pretty interesting day really too. I met up with a couple of clients this morning, did a couple of errands around lunchtime and then headed home for desk work in the afternoon. This evening I headed out to Sparwood for Search and Rescue practice and more compass work and map reading - UTM grid references tonight. Coming back from Sparwood I stopped by Tim Hortons, and then the Park Place Pub.

Two very unlikely places for a fellow in my position to go to wouldn’t you say? Yes, but I got an apple and cinnamon tea from Tim Hortons - to take to the pub (sneak in in my Thermos mug). Why go to the pub? We were seeing off a couple that’s heading to Bulgaria to live.

It was pretty weird being in there after 3 months, and still not drinking, but I’m getting used to weird things now :)

Also, to add to today’s interesting factor, The local paper - the free press did indeed feature a story on me - A half page spread no less. I’ll get in touch with the paper and see if they’ll give me the pictures they used, and post a couple up here on the blog.

So, that’ll do for today, gonna hit the sack now and sleep.

Until tomorrow my friends…

‘night.

Wow. Coming down to the home stretch. Well done Chris.

I’m not sure that I could *drive* past a Timmy’s let alone go in and not be tempted by the smells if I was in the same position as you.

You’ve shown extraordinary control and I am truly impressed.

Thanks a lot Mark, I appreciate the sentiment. You know when I came over to Fernie after several trips back and forth to between Canada and England in the preceding yeaars, I went into a Tim Hortons and realised that it had a particular “smell” that I’d associated with Canada.
So I know what you mean about the smell, it is unique and I has a special place in my…hmm…head and stomach. It won’t be too long before I can have something from there - one of there more healthy options mind yu :)

All the best Mark,

Chris.
