Day #55: Swimmin’, Chillin’ and Blueberries
My sugars this morning: 4.6
OK, so that email I got from David Rainoshek…
Basically he’s said that coming off the juice feast shouldn’t mean that I’ve fallen off the path, and that my cells can still regenerate if I follow a raw food diet. “Raw food”, basically meaning that you don’t cook your food (like my mate Mat in England is doing as I write this).
He said that If I decide to come of the feast I can move to a “Four means to get your greens” approach to eating.
Those four means are:
- Juicing (I think I’m familiar with that one)
- Green Smoothies (Basically blended rather than juiced so it includes the fibre)
- Soups
- Salads
And if I decide to stay on the juice feast, I should experiment with adding blueberry juice and carrots to my juice, and see how it effects my sugars.
So, which path did I choose?
I added a cup of blueberries to the juice ingredients this morning.
What was the effect? Well I got one serious buzz on after the first drink, which tasted…Well I can’t say lovely, but relatively lovely. I think I may have added too much in the way of blueberries, so tomorrow I’m going to try half a cup, and alas the first juice if the day won’t contain any of them.
Apparently you should try and start the day with just the green juice, break yourself in gently as it were.
So, there you go this is the path I have chosen, continue with the juice feast, adding some higher glycemic ingredients, and experimenting with how they effect my blood sugar, in an effort to get my weight back up and my energy level where they should be.
We’ll see what my sugars are tomorrow morning eh.
As for the rest of today, I worked most of the day (got to catch up on all the time spent swanning down to the states etc.) I also decided to take a break around 7pmish and head to the local swimming pool for the last half hour. My wife dropped me off (so I could maximise my time there).
While I was swimming I noticed that if I pushed myself off the wall when turning around for my net length, my trunks started to slide down my ass. I only bought them in August, oh well, I’m sure they’ll fit me properly in a couple of months :).
I did 4 lengths - that was about all I was good for, and then headed to the steam room.
Usually I’m good for say 5 minutes in the steam room, but I could have stayed in there forever today, it just wasn’t too hot for me. Another guy came in, and immediate left saying “Bloody hot in here! Think I’ll have a swim first”. I just sat there thinking, “Well it must be all that cold green juice I’ve been having, because I feel just right”.
I got out only because I wanted to go in the hot tub, chilled in there for a few minutes then got out, got changed and walked home.
I’ve just finished off the evening with a little more work and now I’m chilling in the lounge typing this out.
I feel like I should sleep well tonight, but then again, I’ve thought that before and I wasn’t right.
Hey ho.
‘night.
