Day #47: Just call me Iron Man

My sugar this morning was 4.3 again - seems to be a recurring theme. Fine by me.

As I write this, I’ve just come back from a nice evening out at friends’ where I had a lovely Bengal Spice tea, but I’m hungry now and ready for bed, so this won’t take long…:)

I got some results back from the hospital tests I took the other morning, and they’re interesting to say the least:

My Hba1C level is 7.9 - pretty good considering the 3 month period it covers contains 1.5 months of pre-juice feast higher sugars. It was 10.6 before the feast remember.

My cholesterol was slightly high according to the printout, but evening more intersting…

The Ferritin test cam back as a high level, meaning it looks like I do have an excess of iron in my blood.

I didn’t speak to the doc today, just got the results, but he wants to talk to me, so I’m seeing him next Wednesday afternoon, so hopefully there’ll be further tests for Haemo Chromatosis - If I’m right in my interpretation of the results.

It’s strange to think that if I do have Haemo Chromatosis, all the time I was giving blood, I was actually keeping myself healthier, and stopping (because of injury, acupuncture and bureaucracy) could have been responsible for the eventual build of iron and subsequent complications leading to diabetes.

If I am HaemoChromo then at least I will have reached the route cause and can address it, and who knows what my pancreas can do when it isn’t battling an excess of iron?

Time will tell I guess.

Off to bodkins now…

‘night.
